She opens the door to other dps options without needing, other supports or openers that may not necessarily have def break, while contributing some damage. She is helping you setup to snipe a tank without relying solely on the Hwayoung many gave up on or the Arunka that needs the enemy to have a shield to bust through. IMO, she isn't pairing with your fastest unit, she's pairing with your 2nd fastest. Even Zio, who has some dmg mitigation with Deify is not a unit that's going to live long. That, I feel, is a recipe for trouble since these are also your squishiest units. I've seen a number of folks for instance pairing her with their outright fastest unit. I think you are hitting on one of the flaws in how she's being evaluated. I will preface by saying that I haven't pulled her myself to test her, so my impressions are entirely from seeing others using her, and my view of her kit overall.
She's going to need a fundamental change of some sort to get a healthy buff, otherwise she would just need to be cranked to horrifying power levels to make her current kit actually any good. She doesn't offer enough to a team to justift the team slot. What does she do for a team that isn't just better served with a Lua? Does this mean that Roana is useless or that Lua is overpowered? It's weird to say this but it is in fact probably both, but even if Lua ever does get nerfed, I still think Roana is in a terrible spot, design wise. So many combinations result in nonbos and the comparison to Lua is damning. She doesn't actually add much to most actual openers besides her essentially-fixed damage.
